Design2Glass undertakes restoration and repair of leadlight panels.
We appreciate the importance of restoring glass as faithfully as possible to its original state and former glory, which is why each glass restoration or repair project is given unique care and attention.
Design2Glass assure you that every inch of glass is worked with quality materials and attention to detail; with consideration for the original glass design at all times and sourcing of original glass where possible.
Where glass is damaged, every attempt is made to find a close match, using new glass, or an exact match using original glass or reclaimed glass.
There are several stages to restoring or repairing stained glass and leadlight glass:
- Glass replacement
- Lead came replacement
- Partial rebuild
- Total rebuild
Processes:
- Panels are photographed, measured and details traced before disassembly starts
- A cartoon is drawn and pattern pieces made if glass is to be replaced
- Glass is salvaged where possible and cleaned of its old cement
- Internal and external strengthening
- Glass matched and inserted into the original panel
- Soldering and cementing
- Excess cement is removed, glass cleaned and leads are blackened

Design2Glass does not remove or refit glass panels into windows or doors. They are able to highly recommend a glazier, or are happy to liase with a glazier of your choosing.
